Return to the Motherland

Transformative Cultural Heritage Journeys to Ghana and Across Africa

“ About four hundred years ago on the Continent of Africa, a connection was broken. Names were lost. Languages were silenced. Lineages were severed. And the distance between the diaspora and the continent of Africa has been growing ever since. Protour Africa exists to bridge that distance.”

Our journeys are not designed for “just sightseeing.”

Our journeys are designed to create deeply meaningful, culturally grounded experiences that connect you to Africa’s heritage. We guide you through journeys of truth, belonging, and transformation that will change how you see yourself, your history, and the future.

Protour Africa is not just another tour company. We are a cultural bridge for those who want to connect with Africa, emotionally, culturally, historically, and physically.

Three things happen when you travel with us.

Heritage Reconnection

You reconnect with the heritage that was taken. You will stand in the dungeons where enslaved Africans were held before being forced through the Door of No Return. You will visit the ancestral villages and the river where the last baths were taken before the dungeons and ships. These are not just places you visit. These are places that demand reverence, and we honour that.

Cultural Immersion

You immerse yourself in the culture. Your rhythms, the way you gather, celebrate, and hold community began right here on the Motherland. You will immerse yourself in traditional experiences that have survived centuries. We will eat together, learn together and you will not observe from a distance. You will participate and you will be welcomed.

True Belonging

Our journeys offer something very unique: the feeling of being home and being welcomed. You find yourself held by communities that will welcome you with open arms. We also create the space to journey with people who understand what you are feeling because they are feeling it too. Individuals who carry the same questions, the same longing, and the same desire to reconnect to Africa.

The Homecoming Begins in Ghana

Ghana was the departure point for more enslaved Africans than almost anywhere else on the continent. This is why in 2019, Ghana was also the first African nation to invite the diaspora home through the "Year of Return". Since then, thousands have made the journey to the continent and many have stayed. But Ghana is more than its history of loss. It is also a place of extraordinary vibrancy, generosity, and cultural richness.

Why Protour Africa

What Makes This Different From Every Other Tours

1. Based in Ghana, rooted in community

We are not a foreign company offering Ghanaian and African tours from a distance. We are a local Ghanaian company founded by a young Ghanaian female with a goal. Hence, our relationships with the local communities are genuine, long-standing, and reciprocal.

2. Cultural custodians, not just tour guides

We do not hire generic tour guides. Our cultural custodians are historians, storytellers, and members of the communities you will visit. They understand the diaspora perspective because they are also directly related to the history and culture of the land and people.

3. Your journey does not end when you leave

When you return home, you become part of our family. We stay connected. We share stories. We introduce you to others who have walked the path. And when you are ready, we invite you into the next chapter.

You Are Your Ancestor's Wildest Dreams

This is not just a trip, this is homecoming. When you are ready, we are here.

I believe that heritage reconnection is not a luxury. It is a birthright. Every person of African descent deserves to stand on the ancestral soil of the Motherland and understand where they come from. My life's work is making sure that journey is available, authentic, and held with the care it deserves.

If you are hesitating, let me say this. If you feel the pull of return to the Motherland, we are here to take the first step with you. You just need to reach out and we will take it from there.

We look forward to hearing from you.
