In a significant stride toward fostering connections with the global African diaspora and boost tourism, Ghana has declared a 46 day visa on-arrival regime, spanning from December 1, 2023, to January 15, 2024. This initiative is a pivotal component of the Ghanaian government’s visionary 10-year ‘Beyond The Return’ campaign. The 46 day visa on-arrival period serves as an invitation for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history, vibrant traditions, and captivating landscapes that define this West African gem.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ayorkor Botchwey has hinted at the government’s serious consideration of extending visa-free entry to all Africans and people of African descent in the diaspora. Currently, only a handful of African nations, including Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin, offer visa free entry for all African citizens. This move aligns seamlessly with Ghana’s broader efforts to deepen connections with the diaspora, fostering an environment that is not only welcoming but also accessible. As the government explores the possibility of visa free entry, it reflects a strategic effort to boost tourism, enhance cultural exchange, and celebrate the shared heritage of people of African descent across the globe.
